Edging stamp was a magazine freebie from Visible Image. Sentiment is from Lawn Fawn. No's stamps are from Bo Bunny. Sequins from my stash.

Live Your Dreams

Good morning all.

Another gloriously sunny day here yesterday. We took a trip to Edinburgh to see if Lora's new glasses were in...after two weeks there was no sign of  them and no one knew why so we're waiting for a phone call today to find out what is happening. Meanwhile we have to hope the sellotape holds! The place was heaving...all the eateries were full and no one has any money! Did have a swift tour around Hobbycraft...it would have been rude not to and got a couple of magazines which had nice freebies and a few other bits and bobs but can't say anything really grabbed me.

Sharing the commissioned card I finished on Saturday.

Various sentiment stamps from Visible Image were stamped and heat embossed with white detail ink then using one of the new 8x8 embossing folders from Crafter's Companion I embossed the card. Card was inked with distressed inks which I then softened with gesso. Dots were stencilled with texture paste. More sentiment stamps were stamped onto tissue and adhered with matte gel. Various small background stamps were stamped in the DI and black archival ink. Frame and number dies are from Spellbinders, happy birthday stamp and banner die are from Clearly Besotted.

Pages 2, 3 and 4 are made using the same embossing folder and inks but I've inked the folders before embossing. Stamps are from Stampers Anonymous, Lavinia Stamps, Bo Bunny and Unity Stamps...some have been stamped and heat embossed before the embossing was done, others are stamped on tissue and adhered as above, the rest are stamped in black archival or the same DI used on the card.

Very over the top but my cousin wanted something special for her daughter.

ATC and Craft Room Makeover

Good morning all. What is everyone getting up to today? I think it will be a quiet one here...lots of crafting now I have space to move! I've lots of new stuff still waiting to be put through it's paces.

It was a lovely day here yesterday but very, very cold so I tucked myself in the craft room and made some progress with future DT projects. I managed this little ATC to share too though.

Kraft card ATC painted with gesso then coloured with gelatos. Texture added down LHS with glass bead glitter gel. JOFY stamp (JM25) stamped onto tissue paper with Memento and coloured with promarkers. Love sentiment stamped and grungy dots stamped on top. Two hearts which were die waste added top right.  Grunged the edges with black gelato then I used some picket fence spray stain to finish off.
I entering this at Paper Artsy where the challenge is "Fragile Papers". I was inspired by Clare who used tissue paper on her Journal Tag, although in a completely different way! Loved all of the inspiration this fortnight but I was short on time and the scale adapted easily to an ATC.

This is roughly what my craft room used to look like..it was too much of a mess to take before pictures!! These pictures were taken just after the room was fitted out a few years ago. I did change things a bit and had got rid of the pine desk and replaced it with a plastic trolley when I no longer needed a printer in there.

This is what it looked like on Thursday after my big sort out.

All my ribbons now hanging on the back of the door. Moving into the room the trolleys and 2 extra new sets of drawers house mostly mixed media findings and bits to recycle along with my punches.
Opposite wall...my stamps, embossing folders and some dies sit on top of drawers housing glue, card, aqua tints and embossing powders (2 extra sets of drawers here). Above this I have a rack for my ink pads.

The window wall...large nesties and 6" paper on the shelves...my work space.... with lots of drawer space beneath (metal drawers are new)...magnetic die storage and large stamp sets. I got rid of the ribbon racks and now have some wall space for displaying finished goods.

Back wall...more work space...loads of drawers (2 extra sets here too) with space above for storing boxes and stuff...my promarkers and a little workspace for colouring. I had a paper rack where the two canvases are on the wall but have taken it down too. There is another higher shelf which houses empty cardboard boxes, printer paper and large card blanks....but mainly empty boxes!!
So as you can see I did manage to use all six sets of drawers hubby bought...and here's me thinking two sets would be enough!!

Enjoy your day!

Christmas Card Club "Silver Bells"

Good morning all.

Another two weeks have passed and it's time for the penultimate challenge of the year at our little Christmas Card Club...EEEK! Asha had the job of choosing a theme this time and she's chosen "Silver Bells". I've been going around singing it all weekend...not a pleasant sound I can assure you!

Here is my card:

Base card is made with silver mirri card, apologies as it is a nightmare to photograph. The silver bells are courtesy of a Tattered Lace die which was a magazine freebie, I've cut the die down so I was left with just the two bells and layered four die cuts together to make a nice chunky die. I used that new stick it stuff for the first time and it was great for sticking all the layers together but I did have to add some wet glue to the base after the photo was taken as it wasn't coping well with the embossed surface.
The base layer has been stamped with a Bo Bunny distressed dotty stamp in lavender, the same ink was used for the Bo Bunny music border stamp which I masked in the middle. The sentiment from Clearly Besotted was stamped in versamark and heat embossed with silver detail EP. The line stamps were also from Clearly Besotted and after masking the lines I didn't want I stamped in purple.
The purple star is a recent magazine freebie including stamps and a stencil. I stamped over the top of the dots in purple then realised the stamp has been sitting nestled in a stencil of the same size so I stuck it to the card and embossed it through the Grand Caliber....of course at the half way point it suddenly dawned that the edges of the stencil were going to emboss in funny places all over the card!! I did however manage to deboss them out as by now I was on my third attempt at getting the stamping right!
Card was finished with some gems and a little bow from my stash...and of course my signature insert with the punched snowflake corners (well it's the only Christmas punch I own). Oh how smug I feel now with a box full of cards all with inserts!!

Challenges entered:
Less is More the 200th challenge - celebrations
Delicious Doodles - let's face the music
Sweet Stamps - bordered sentiment
Winter Wonderland - dies and punches

Altered Frame

Good morning all.

We had a warm, dry if slightly bleak day yesterday but the rain is forecast for today.
Lots more snippets busted yesterday afternoon, though some of you expert snippeteers would be horrified at what I threw out....but I needed to take control of the situation and show them who was boss lol. I was very pleased to find the box under the one I was working from was actually full of photos and not snippets so I'm one down and only two to go!

An altered frame to share today. I actually altered the frame a while back but couldn't decide what to use it for so it's being lying in one of the piles in my craft room for some time!!

The frame was originally a lovely rosewood one which I painted with acrylic chalk paint in purple before using  crackle glaze and some acrylic chalk in lilac. I had painted the hardboard piece from the frame in white acrylic after doing the frame and decided to decorate this....unfortunately because I hadn't used any gesso on the card it hadn't sealed and the coloured inks were soaked up a little.
Stamps are from Visible Images, Premium Craft Brand and Bo Bunny and stamped in either Memento, Distress or Archival inks. Stencils from Memory Box. Ribbon, flowers and pearls from my stash.

Imperfection is Beauty

Good morning all. Hope you've all had a pleasant weekend.

Well I tackled the snippets invasion yesterday...I probably spent 8 hours die cutting and I've only just made a dent in the first box (there are four of varying sizes and fullness),  I think this was the largest! All the workspace I created on Saturday is now full of piles of die cuts and mats!
Off to the hairdressers this morning but I think I know what I'll be doing this afternoon!

An altered notebook to share today.

Cover was coated with several layers of gesso before being painted with no 6 aquatints. I then used various background stamps from Artistic Stampers, Bo Bunny and Visible Images inked with DI or Memento ink. Main image is from Indigo Blu along with the flowers in the top right hand corner and were a magazine freebie. Two sayings are from Visible Images along with the flower in the bottom left hand corner. I finished off with some white splats from my Premium Craft Brands set.

A picture with the protective front closed and one after the first coat of gesso as I forgot to take a before photo!!

Splat!

Good morning all.

We had a gorgeous day here yesterday, albeit a little chilly...the forecast is good today too.
Didn't bother going shopping, did an online shop which will be delivered today and made a pastry free quiche with chips and beans for tea. Road tested the new iron while tea was cooking, it does feel a might heavy and clumpy compared to my old one but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Not sure it was a good idea to change the vacuum and iron at the same time though, my back is now killing me!

Got to have a play yesterday and decided to attempt the dreaded one layer card for "Less is More".

One simple design, two stamps and two DI inks....what could go wrong!!!
Lets just say this is attempt seven and even this one has a bent sentiment - two of the failed attempts are inside this card and four adorn the other half of the A4 sheet I started out with (waste not, want not!!)....so I will have to chop it up and layer it if I want to use it lol!
Circle splatter stamp is from Bo Bunny, stamped in Black Soot DI and coloured with Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers. Sentiment stamp is from Imagination.

After a lie down in a dark room I spent the evening quietly colouring.

Challenges entered:
Less is More - use two

Imagine, Dream, Inspire...

Good morning all.

Thank goodness it's Friday...I've been totally disorientated this week after our few days away, I might get back on track at the weekend.

Today's share is an altered book. As always I forgot the before photo so here it is after it's first coat of gesso. I found it lying unused and unloved in a drawer and decided it might make a good art journal as the pages are quite sturdy.

After several coats of gesso and white acrylic paint it was ready to alter.

After gathering some stamps and stencils together I masked off the areas for the three word stamps from Visible Image. I also masked the sides of the book to create a white border. Then I got all inky using Distress Inks. I used some stamps from Bo Bunny to overstamp with some distress ink but these didn't come out too well. I then stamped various stamps from Bo Bunny, Inkylicious and a magazine freebie in black Archival ink. The texture paste was put through a stencil from Memory Box. Once everything was dry I removed all the masking tape and stamped the sentiments in black Archival.

I still don't like messy but I love what can be created!
