Christmas Card Club "2 or more patterned papers"

Good morning all.

Yesterday was spent sanding paint work in my new craft room, this morning I ache in places I didn't know existed!! I think we're ready to decorate it now though, just need to wash it down today to get rid of the dust. This is how it looks at the moment:

....and this is the view from the  window, there was actually a deer standing on the grassy patch in the distance when I took this yesterday.

Today it's time for another Christmas Card Club outing and this week GranMargaret asked for "2 or more patterned papers". I've cheated slightly and counted my decoupage as one of the papers, hope no one minds!

Please excuse the photo...my camera developed a fault when we were away so I had to use my phone for this! Decoupage from Joanna Sheen; dies from Spellbinders and Wplus9. Sentiment from Clearly Besotted.

Candy winners...your prizes will hopefully be posted on Tuesday when I get up to the High Street again, sorry for the delay.

Stencil Sunday #37

Good evening all.

Sorry for my absence...life has been hectic! Jetlag, Dr's appointments and a new house on top of everyday living has meant little time left over for crafting and blogging. I haven't done any crafting since our return home....and I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms lol! We got the keys to the new house on the 4th and have been busy finalising colour schemes, sourcing new furniture and generally deciding how to make it "ours". As always getting tradesmen in to do the work is a nightmare!! This week we've come to the conclusion we need a new kitchen to make it right for us so it could be several weeks before we actually move.

Some goodish news...the stroke clinic here think my symptoms may have been the result of a migraine rather than a TIA, my Dr is now waiting to see the official report to decide where we go from here.

My turn to provide some Stencil Sunday inspiration over at STAMPlorations today. Today I have a canvas to inspire you.

I started with a 5 x 7 canvas painted with white gesso. Using black archival I stamped the background script from the Mixed Media Elements stamp set through the Flutterby stencil then used transparent texture paste through to emboss. Once everything was dry I coloured with Distress Spray Stains, buffing up the embossing once dry. Edge stamp is also from the MM Elements set. My butterfly and sentiment are both from the Blossom like a Butterfly stamp set.

And the March Mixed Media Challenge runs until the end of the month! If you want to play, you still have plenty of time left to get messy and share your non-card mixed media projects. It's anything mixed media goes except a card...and you must use a stencil (any brand or even a homemade one!) in your project(s). For the complete challenge info + prizes, click here.

I'll be back tomorrow with the winner of my blog candy!

Five Year Blogaversary

Good morning all.

Not sure why the linky is showing numerous times, just add your link to the first one...it might correct itself!

Ferry trip over to North Island today, the weather was kind but I can't believe how fast it has just changed - as the sun was about to set spectacularly too! There's now a howling wind blowing and it's almost pitch black.

On the 9th of March this year my blog will be five years old...how the heck did that happen?? As a way of celebrating and saying thank you to all my wonderful followers, I'm offering some blog candy. I was trying to set this up to run for two months from the date I left home but inlinkz had other ideas...so here we are today instead.

Two of the kids bought me a set of stitched square dies for Christmas so one set will form the first part of the candy...I've got a few other bits put aside which I'll add to this too.

HLS Mixed Media Challenge March "Water"

Good evening all.

This is my second post today, you'll find my Stencil Sunday inspiration post here.

Time once again to inspire you for this month's Mixed Media Challenge at Happy Little Stampers. Our theme for March is:

This challenge is sponsored by

Winner will receive a $15 discount from HLS.

An altered stamp block from me...my friend commissioned two of these to give as Christmas presents.

I started with a mood board using smooshed distress paints (this is where my water came in), once cut to size and glued in place I added some stamping using stamps from the Mix Mash set. Wording on the front was computer generated and printed onto tissue. It's a Boy is an old wooden stamp, ribbon from my stash. I used gilding wax around all the edges.

Stencil Sunday #36 + March Challenge

Good evening all.

Time once again for a new Stencil Sunday Mixed Media challenge at STAMPlorations. We loved seeing your projects last month and hope you'll join us again this month.

Starting with a 5 x 7 gessoed canvas I stencilled the flower and dreams word from the Fearless large stencil with transparent texture paste, adding some embossing powder to the word and heat embossing once dry. Colour was added using Distress Spray Stains. I used the script background stamp from the Mixed Media Elements stamp set with white pigment ink to create some texture to the background...obviously there was still some black ink residue on the stamp and I ended up with this lovely shadow stamping effect...a happy accident!

Words were computer generated. Edges and image were gilded with several colours of wax to highlight them.

The theme is always anything mixed media goes except a card and you must use at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. Linky closes at the end of the month. I hope you can join us!
Prizes: $15 gift certificate OR choice of any 2 small or 1 large ARTplorations stencils to the winner
choice of 1 small ARTplorations stencil to the top picks

I've made a rocker card. All dies are from Spellbinders. Background script is from HLS Thinking of You set. I used a piece of smooshed card for the snowflake which I'd over stamped with the same background script. Sentiment was a magazine freebie.

Happy Birthday

Good morning all.

Slowly getting back to normal here after a fabulous trip (minus the unscheduled visit to hospital!). New Zealand was just so beautiful and the people so friendly. No rest for the wicked though as we get the keys for our new house tomorrow...luckily there's no rush to move.

It's my sister in laws birthday tomorrow, I managed to make her card before we left for New Zealand.

More Kanban cardstock used up. Stitched square from Lawn Fawn. Sentiment die and stamp from Whimsy Stamps. Border stamp from STAMPlorations, corner stamp from Happy Little Stampers. Gems from my stash.

Good morning all.

Arrived home safe and sound on Sunday afternoon. Thankfully we'd organised wheelchair assist for all the airports so I didn't overdo things and it also took all the hassle out of the transfers.

Another new month and time for our second challenge at Eclectic Ellapu. Vickie set the theme for the Pink Team this month and chose "Thinking of You"

Poppie stamp set from Clearly Besotted, sentiment from Happy Little Stampers. Dies from Spellbinders and Lawn Fawn.
