Less is More challenge this week was a sketch - I made this Christmas card:
DL card, silver mirri is embossed with a cuttlebug folder then edged with a Martha Stewart punch. Snowflake is a Spellbinders die. Card is finished with white and silver ribbon and a sentiment stamped and embossed with silver embossing powder.
Not so sure about this one....don't know if the sentiment is in the right place!

A lovely christmas card and like your embossing.

I wonder whether you are unsure about this one because of the amount of card covered by the embossing? The general rule for placement which is pleasing to the eye is to use thirds. The coloured section is more than a third and less than a half, it may be the balance which is worrying you.
ReplyDeleteWith the words in the embossing you could also leave it without a sentiment.
What do you think?
However, having said all that, it's still a lovely card and thanks for joining us.

It's beautiful colours but I think, like Chrissie, that you could have done without the greeting in the top left. Hazel x
ReplyDeleteSuper card, love all the silver and white. (I agree, doesn't need the sentiment). x
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for your constructive comments. I was aiming for one third of the card covered Chrissie but the embossing would have looked strange - unfortunately Cuttlebug folders open at the bottom which is a bind when trying to do something like this. Now I very rarely stamp a greeting on a card......but the one time I do...I didn't need it lol and it won't come off again!!!

Carol, I love the shimmery effect of the card! Great embossing, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely card, the proportions are slightly 'out' according to our sketch ehich is why maybe you have not balanced it. thats maybe you don't like the positioning
ReplyDeleteId have been tempted to make a little tag and hang it from the snowflake, leaving the top blank
Thanks for entering Carol
