Good morning all.
Things are slowly returning to normal here and I hope I've caught up with most of you by now. A slow internet connection and the Ipad are not conducive to frequent blogging - hence my absence for two weeks.
Spent yesterday down home as it was my nephew's birthday, along with his Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary and as I was running late with the birthday card I had to hand deliver!
I finally made it into the craft room on Tuesday but the mojo is still hiding in the suitcase or perhaps under the pile of ironing I've managed to create! This is the card I made for my nephew....luckily the wedding anniversary card was made some time ago.
I made a similar card for my BIL last year and Jack asked me to make him one this year so I knew where this one was going. The backing paper was the waste paint piece from a gelli plate play (the results of which you may or may not see in the future!) which I ran through a Crafter's Companion brick wall embossing folder which I'd inked with black soot DI....I love how it turned out! The reward stamp was a magazine freebie...I managed to print the photo the right size and overstamp perfectly first time before heat embossing with black EP and cutting with a nestie die....love it when things go right first time!
The happy birthday die and stamp are from Whimsy Stamps and I finished with a smattering of sequins....I've had a few comments in the past from people who love sequins but feel they never manage to place them right....please know I belong in the same group! So if I can do it so can you!!

ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Carol . Really clever stamping. Well done for using a Gelli disaster too, I'm still not doing great with mine but will try to do a bit more practise soon. That card of mine has started off a whole big pile of new ideas and inspirations - there is just something about those birds that makes me laugh whenever I see them. Leave the ironing and have a play session - just for fun it always helps me to kick start and that's what inspired the first Crazy Bird card. I think you will all get bored of seeing them soon lol! Karen xx

oh hun this is one brilliant card hun love it xxx
ReplyDeleteA really interesting card Carol, lovely background and the fact that it started as a waste piece makes it even better. I expect your nephew was thrilled with this card too. The reward stamp looks very useful as well and I can see that turning up a few more times in the future.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a lovely holiday but the inevitable washing and ironing pile on your return is always a drag but interspersed with crafting sessions perhaps it won't seem so bad.
Also thanks for joining in the challenge at Top Tip Tuesday this week and good luck.

ReplyDeleteFabulous card Carol, love you you've put the photo in the reward notice, great background too, hugs Kate x
ReplyDeleteYou have to know I LOVE this fabulous background, and was delighted to read it was 'snippets' from a gelli play. It certainly embossed so nicely & pretty with the brick EF & the black soot. A super birthday card, and I know your nephew loved it. BTW, MoJo and ironing, are NOT friends, just in case you didn't know that. Which is why our iron hides away in the storage closet! (But MoJo is still wandering, so it must be something else at our house he is not liking). TFS & Hugs

ReplyDeleteThis is so great, Carol! What a fun and fantastic card, especially for a guy! Great job with the sequints! You know I did a whole paragraph in a post about placement, lol, and it was fun to read how many people just sort of toss them and stick them where they land! Enjoy the weekend!! Hugs, Darnell
