Altered Box

Good morning all. We had a beautiful day yesterday, still cool though. Had to go food shopping then had an evening in the craft room.

Can't believe it will be April tomorrow, although it will be nice to be back to light evenings again now that the clocks have gone forward. Hopefully it will warm up again soon too!

Warning this post is picture heavy!

Something  a little different from me today. I have a pile of empty boxes sitting on a shelf in my craft room waiting to be reused. When I was tidying/sorting the other week I came across one perfect for the shawl I'm knitting so I've spent the last few days altering it.
The box started life as an Estee Lauder gift box and had a navy blue strip across the middle of the lid so I painted the sides inside and out with acrylic paint, then used gold ink along the edges and some DI on the sides to give it a more vintage look.

The papers are all from a C&C kit which a friend gave me a couple of years ago. Again I came across the kit when tidying up and was wondering what to do with it....I love the papers but as they are all A4 they're difficult to use on cards. Then the little old brain cells clicked into place and I realised they were perfect for this project especially as the friend the shawl is for loves fairies.
I've decoupaged part of the image with a second sheet of the paper. The tag is made with one of the stickers which was also in the kit. The ribbon is recycled from a clothing label and the metal corners have been in my stash for ages. I've lightly distressed the paper with DI which probably doesn't show in the photo.

I've lined the inside of both the lid and base using more of the papers. The image in the lid is another sticker from the kit.

The kit also included sticky ribbons with pearls attached which I've attached around the sides.
You can see the layers on the image better on this photo.

The inside of the box is still scented from the gift set so smells lovely.

I need to get a turkey dinner organised now!!

He has Risen.......

.....is the name of Trish's latest kit at Template Dreams.
He has risen is a great religious digital scrapbooking kit for Easter, as well as any other pages that you want to tell your journey about your faith. This kit comes with 32 papers (total) and 35 elements.

It's been snowing off and on all morning and is beginning to lie, we could well have a white Easter!

I was feeling melancholy last night  so scrapped this page of my Dad using on one of the Circle This templates along with the new kit.

We are very lucky to have loads of old photos of Dad. He was brought up by his grandparents and Grandad obviously had a new camera! Hark at the short pants in the middle of winter worn with the wellies - not a terribly good look lol. Dad did his National Service in the Navy and this is one of my favourite photos, it sits framed in my craft room.

The Send Off

Good morning all. Wonder what the weather is going to do today!

My parcel arrived from Crafter's Companion yesterday so all my promarkers are now labelled and sorted - just need a couple more trays for my limited edition ones. I can't believe how little space they take up! Needless to say a few other products fell into my basket when making my purchase so I also got three 6 x 6 embossing folders and a 6 x 6 pad of the new kraft Coordinations card.

Some time ago I was lucky enough to win a set of sticky dots from Letraset all coloured and labelled ready to stick on my pens which made life very easy yesterday. I have two uncoloured sets spare - they're labelled with the colour names, they just need coloured in. If anyone would like a set please leave a comment and I'll draw lots at the end of the week.

I spent most of the afternoon and evening in the craft room one way or another. One of my purchases at the SECC was some Wellington Bear decoupage sheets so I made all eight up on Sunday night and last night I made four up into cards. I need about forty cards between now and my summer holidays including 7/8 male cards so these will do nicely.

Another Mongol Rally double page layout to show today.

Created in Craft Artist using "Adventure" from Sherwood Studio. This was a free kit and perfect to mix and match with the kit I have been using so far.

Challenges entered:
Sketches in Thyme - #106 (love this double pager)

Whoopsi Daisy - Use a Digi

Good morning all.

It's time for another challenge at  Whoopsi Daisy  and this week it's team A's turn to share their inspiration with you. The theme this week is "Use a Digi" or you can do Anything Goes if you use a Whoopsi Daisy image on your project.

Using an image from sheet #394, coloured with promarkers and die cut with an ornate die from Spellbinders. Backing paper was a magazine freebie which I've had for ages. Flower die from Memory Box which I'm airing for the first time, although I've had it for a couple of months! Sentiment is made using one of the smaller dies from Spellbinders, stamp from Wild Rose Studio. Card is finished with pearls and a bow from my stash.

Do pop over to the challenge blog to see the inspiration from the rest of the team and remember if you use a Whoopsi Daisy image you could win 2 image sheets, 1 sheet will be awarded to a winner using any other image.

Sugar and Spice

A third post from me today!

I've had the sketch for this layout sitting around all week so decided I'd better get off my behind and scrap it before the challenge closes!

An actual real life scrap page this time using up a little of the scrapping stash I have tucked away in my drawers! The photos are of Lora on her Christening Day almost 15 years ago.
Base card is Cordinations, everything else is from my stash. Think I prefer my digi scrapping, there's a lot less waste!!

Challenges entered:
Use Your Stuff - inspired by sketch

Thanks for popping by, your comments are appreciated.

Sunday Best

Good afternoon all. I hope you've enjoyed a pleasant weekend weather aside! It's still blowing a hoolie here so I've had a day crafting.

A second post from me today showcasing another matching layout for the page I did of my Mum earlier in the week.

So here we are all dressed in our Sunday Best out collecting primroses with my Aunt and Uncle. Not sure whether my Dad was behind the camera or whether my Aunt and Uncle took these pictures. The main photo would have been a lovely family shot if my Dad had been in it - I don't think we actually have a photo of us all when we were kids. I may have to have a shot at some clever photo editing!
My layout was created in Craft Artist using "Sending Flowers" from Template Dreams.

Challenges entered:
Anything but a Card - something spring
Catered Crop - flower power
Get Creative - scraplift the DT
I've used Anastasia's lovely layout for inspiration.

Mother and Son

Good morning all. We had a very blustery day yesterday with snow and all sorts! So much for spring. Hope the weather improves as the kids are now on holiday for Easter.

When I shared my Mother and Daughter layout last Saturday Carolyn asked whether I did matching facing layouts - yes I do and here is the one to match.

Created in Craft Artist using  "Reflections" from Nutkin Tailz.
I discovered the bevel and emboss feature in Craft Artist this week hence the reason everything which stands still has been bevelled and embossed lol.
Unfortunately there isn't a photo of me with my eldest son or one of just me and hubby at this particular wedding. I still need to add the journalling to this page too.

Challenges entered:
Get Creative - sketch

Genghis Khanny Row

Good morning all. Spent another day sorting the craft room out yesterday and I'm nearly there. Treated myself to some Crafter's Companion marker storage last night to free up some work surface . Just trying to work out the most efficient use of the space I've got....but at least I can see my work mat!!

A Mongol Rally layout from me this morning.
Still plodding away on this album and still don't seem to be making any headway into the plethora of photos I have to scrap! Thank heavens for the sketch challenges to give me loads of different starting points for the pages.

These photos were taken a couple of months before the Rally took place. To raise awareness of what they were doing they took part in the Trades Cup boat race at North Berwick. None of them could row and they only managed two lessons before the event but they made it back to dry land in a noble fourth place (out of four) lol.

Up, Up and Away

Good morning all. Had a busy day yesterday mucking out the craft room, still loads to do and I can't see the work surface at all but some progress has been made! All my Christmas stuff is in one place which was one of my aims and I've filled two large boxes and two shoe boxes with stuff I'm never going to use. So it looks like there will be more of the same today!

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm quite liking Bloglovin. Love the groups feature, it saves going through everything when you 're short of time. I need to spend a bit more time honing things nearer to perfection though!

A double page layout today using holiday photos from several years ago when we took a hot air balloon trip over the desert at sunrise in Dubai.

Crafting for all Seasons #48 Anything but a Card

Good afternoon. Gosh it's so nice to see the sun shining for a change!

Today it's time for a new challenge at CFAS and this time the theme is "Anything but a Card". We're  looking forward to seeing all your makes. We're being sponsored by our Bugaboo and the DT were given images to use. I choose to make a gift tag.

I've used "Snowman Pocket" and I've coloured him with promarkers before fussy cutting. The tag has been dry embossed with a snowflake embossing folder then inked with DI in various shades of blue. The snowflake is a Spellbinders die cut. Ribbon, button and gems are from my stash. Small snowflakes are punch waste. Cord is recycled off a clothing tag.

Do pop over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the girls inspiration, you won't be disappointed.

Challenges entered:

By the Cute and Girly - favourite things (Christmas and Snowmen)

Sending Flowers

Good morning all. Well it proved a rather dreich day yesterday, it snowed off and on all day and was wet and miserable in between. It really wasn't worth going out so I got some much needed housework done!

I'm showcasing Trish's newest kit this morning........"Sending Flowers" from Template Dreams.
Looking for digital paper and elements with rich colours? Be sure to check out Sending Flowers by Template Dreams. Black, brown, deep red, green, and pinks made up this beautiful flower kit. You will receive 25 papers (total) and 24 elements.

As soon as I saw the papers in this kit I knew I had to scrap this photo of my Mum taken about 40 years ago. We used to go to Granny and Grandad's on a Sunday for tea all dressed in our Sunday best. Funny we used to think Mam was fat when we were kids (she thought she was too!), but she looks rather trim for having had 5 kids. The tweed suit is still hanging in her wardrobe - I wish I fitted into it!!! I did inherit her legs though and she still has legs to kill for at nearly 80!

Just Because....

Good evening all. A second post from me today. Managed to do some crafting this afternoon between the laundry and changing beds.

It's ages since I made a card just because I wanted to!! So when I saw the WOW challenge at OSAAT I decided to make a card. Here is the result:

Decided it needed to be a Christmas card as I'm a bit behind this year. Image is from Sylvie's Stamps at the Stitchy Bear Shop - I've changed the colour in Publisher and used Glamour Dust to glitter it up, then die cut with a labels one die and mounted onto a fancy die. Embossing folders from Cuttlebug. card is finished with ribbon and pearls from my stash.

Mother and Daughter

Good morning all. Hope everyone is well.
My cold has finally abated and I'm feeling somewhat human again! Well the weather forecast is awful for the weekend so I think I'll stay home and craft.

Had a play last night using another photo which I have framed. I really need to get all the framed photos digitised as most of them pre-date the digi camera age and I often don't have copies of them.

Created in Craft Artist using "Reflections" from Nutkin Tailz. Decotrims from Shannon McNab. The photo was taken in 2002 when I was much slimmer than I am at present! I'd love to be this weight again by July when my nephew get's married and I've lost almost a stone since the end of January....watch this space as it gets smaller lol.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned.

Good morning all. Still full of the cold so didn't do a lot yesterday. Luckily Sainsbury's delivered food to us so we had something to eat!

Decided to re-decorate for the weekend just for fun, normal service will resume early next week!

Saw this photo of Lora in a frame and decided it needed to be digi scrapped so here is the result.

Good morning all. Down with a stinking cold again, mixed with a slight migraine but hey things could be worse!
Managed to fit some knitting in yesterday but ended up pulling it all out and starting again to change the way I was increasing stitches as it was too untidy at the edges.....after much trial and error and several re-starts I'm now back where I was but much happier.

I decided to make a Facebook header for St Patrick's Day just for fun but why oh why does Facebook continually keep changing things......all my headers have had/will have to be changed to fit the new layout grrrrr!!

Unfortunately I boobed when making my card and completely forgot we have to use a stamped image and not just a sentiment on our cards so my card doesn't count......so please don't copy me!!!

Stamp from Creative Expressions, stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Detail Gold embossing powder. Die cuts from Spellbinders. Vellum backing paper and ribbons from my stash. Bow arrangement is recycled from a Christmas cracker and gold snowflake is a Christmas tree decoration.

Knitting

Good morning all. Hopefully today will be warmer than yesterday!

No treatment needed at the dentist so it was a quick scale and polish and I was on my way home again, thank goodness. The school dentist instilled the fear of God in both me and my older brother when we were younger - she was called Miss Crute and we nicknamed her Crute the Brute!! She always said she'd run out of injections when we asked for one before she drilled our teeth until I got wise and exited the chair and said I'd come back when she'd got more in......she never ran out again!

I decided to make a start on the knitting yesterday, my priority being the Triangular shawl which is needed for a birthday in May. Using Starlight Revue yarn and size 12mm needles, it's garter stitch all the way. Not sure I'm enjoying it....give me 3 ply wool and a pattern any day of the week!

This is my progress thus far:

I think I have about 40 stitches at the moment and I have to get to 150 increasing one at each end as I go so about 50 odd rows still to knit and the tassels to add.....think I might manage that by May!! The yarn does have a lovely sparkle in it which I think you can just see in the photo.

I'll be back in the morning with my DT card for Christmas Challenges (with sketches). See you then.

Whoopsi Daisy - Buttons or Bows

Good morning all. Well I got two thirds of Mother's Day yesterday and will probably get the other third this evening! Eldest left things a little too late so bought me a birthday card and crossed off birthday and wrote Mother's Day.......did buy Bailey's to go with it though. Youngest bought one of those alternative cards...."Mother likes her house like her vodka.......NEAT"!!! Goodness knows what child no 2  will arrive home with!! Life is never dull with them.....

Got a trip to the dentist today for my six month check up, hopefully I won't need any treatment.

It's time for another challenge at  Whoopsi Daisy  and this week it's team A's turn to share their inspiration with you. The theme this week is "Buttons or Bows" or you can do Anything Goes if you use a Whoopsi Daisy image on your project.
