Good morning all.
A mixed bunch of weather here yesterday...dry and fine for most of the day but turning to heavy rain showers about teatime. We spent our day trying to sort some of the many boxes stored in the loft...we didn't make a lot of headway, although we ended with plenty of mess! I did make a few finds I'd forgotten about including today's oldie.
Erika has been running a Golden Oldie Friday feature for some time now...it's fun to share crafting makes that maybe haven't been blogged before or re-visit some of your earlier blogging endeavours. Today I have a cross stitch wall hanging from 1992 or thereabouts!
Made to commemorate the birth of no 2 son...I'd totally forgotten of it's existence! It is a little grubby now as I obviously didn't spray it with anything when I made it...I'm wondering whether I can open up one end and remove the card board stiffener then gently wash it...don't want to ruin it completely though!
For those who asked yesterday what Hypopressive was here is a link...it explains better than I could!!
It's a long weekend here so kids are off school today and Monday, we had contemplated going away but I think we need to crack on with the loft then start de-cluttering the rest of the house...that could be fun - NOT! This is what we have bought..a converted mill set in about 3 acres of land. Don't know yet when the sale will go through, hopefully we'll hear today.
Have a fun weekend whatever you're up to.
Fab oldie Carol......and the house looks lovely.Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Carol,
ReplyDeletewhat a great Oldie today.
It is so nice to have something wonderful like that to commemorate the birth of a child.
This is one craft I never could take too so I am so impressed with your work.
I am extremely envious of your new buy, and hope it all goes through without any hitches.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Your wall hanging is beautiful and what a lovely way it was to commemorate the birth of your son. I still enjoy doing cross stitch from time to time.
ReplyDeleteYour new home looks gorgeous. Hope everything goes through easily. Barbxx
Oh my word Carol I love the house, wow, bet you can't wait to hear about it. It is stunning. We need to do the loft too and have a clear out, it is just the thought that makes me want to shudder and hide in a darkened room, good luck!
ReplyDeleteA super oldie today, I'm sure a light hand wash wouldn't hurt, I used to wash my cross stitches after making them, many moons ago. Have you tried googling about it. It is amazing what you can find out!
I think it would be lovely to get it framed for your son for his family later down the line.
Thanks for joining in today, have a super weekend, hugs Erika. x
A fabulous golden oldie Carol, so sweet.
ReplyDeleteWow! Such a wonderful property, bet you can't wait to move in.

I have obviously missed a lot of stuff - you are moving? Wherever that beautiful house is it looks fabulous. Don't wash it just in case the colour runs. It might be worth laminating it? I've just remembered that we have some of those odd little white foam squares/rectangles that you can dampen and then use to remove stains from things - wondering if they would work on your embroidery piece. Let me know if you would like me to pop a piece in the post for you to try Karen x
